This 2 Days Ngamba Chimpanzee Tour takes you to Ngamba Chimpanzee Santuary that was established in October 1997 to care for orphaned chimpanzees that have been rescued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and is coordinated and managed by the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT). Ngamba Island is approximately 40 hectares of rain forest situated 23 km from Entebbe in Lake Victoria, Uganda. It supports a rich diversity of natural wildlife and provides a big variety of foods for the chimpanzees.
Kampala to Ngamba Islands
Early morning pick up from your residence in Kampala at 0715hrs for a transfer to the waterfront pier in Entebbe in time for the 0900hrs speed boat transfer to Ngamba Island. The boat takes approximately 45 minutes from Entebbe to the Island. Upon arrival, watch a morning or afternoon feeding of the chimpanzees as well as hear an informative commentary from the sanctuary staff from the visitors’ raised platform. Spend the evening at your leisure with activities like swimming, bird watching, wildlife encounters, or just sunbathe and relax.
Forest Walk and return to Kampala
After early morning breakfast, proceed for a forest walk at the sanctuary where you get up-close with all the forest flora and fauna let alone interact with the juvenile group. Also, discover how much we have in common with these primates and learn about these remarkable species and the importance of conserving their fragile forest habitat. Thereafter, proceed to your speed boat for your return to the mainland in Entebbe and continue with drop off at your residence or at the airport if having an onward journey.
